Our Land Acknowledgement
Spark Rehabilitation services the communities and corridors within the Northeastern part of Ontario. Furthermore, Spark Rehabilitation wishes to provide a way to help build awareness of Indigenous history in these lands and territories through our Land Acknowledgment. By Acknowledging the lands in which we practice our services, our mission is to establish recognition and respect to Indigenous Peoples as traditional stewards of this land and the enduring relationship that exists between Indigenous Peoples and their traditional territories.
Spark Rehabilitation services acknowledges, with respect, that we currently gather, service, and operate in the following territories upon the following treaties:
• Elliot Lake
Spark Rehabilitation Services acknowledges, with respect, that we are in Robinson-Huron Treaty (1850) territory, that the land on which we gather, service, and operate, is the traditional territory of the Anishinaabe. This is the traditional territory of the Anishinaabek peoples.
• Espanola
Spark Rehabilitation Services acknowledges, with respect, that we are in Robinson-Huron Treaty (1850) territory, that the land on which we gather, service, and operate, is the traditional territory of the Atikameksheng Anishnawbek, descendants of the Ojibwe, Algonquin and Odawa nations. This is the traditional territory of the Atikameksheng Anishinaabek peoples.
• Manitoulin Island
Spark Rehabilitation Services acknowledges, with respect, that we are in Manitoulin Island Treaty (45 and 94) territory, that the land on which we gather, service, and operate, is the traditional territory of the Anishinabek and Odawa peoples. These lands are occupied by the Anishinaabek and Odawa peoples
• North Bay
Spark Rehabilitation Services acknowledges, with respect, that we are in Robinson-Huron Treaty (1850) territory, that the land on which we gather, service, and operate, is the traditional territory of the Anishinabewaki. These lands are occupied by the peoples of the Nipissing and Doki First Nations
• Sault Ste. Marie
Spark Rehabilitation Services acknowledges, with respect, that we are in Robinson-Huron Treaty (1850) territory, that the land on which we gather, service, and operate, is the traditional territory of the Anishinaabe. This is the traditional territory of the Anishinabewaki and Michif Piyii (Métis) peoples. This land is known as Bawating, and is the home of Garden River First Nation, and Batchewana First Nation.
• Sudbury
Spark Rehabilitation Services acknowledges, with respect, that we are in Robinson-Huron Treaty (1850) territory, that the land on which we gather, service, and operate, is the traditional territory of the Anishinaabe. This is the traditional territory of the Atikameksheng Anishnawbek peoples and also includes the traditional lands of the Wahnapitae First Nations.
